Yay, first post, first day of the new year. New Year's was pretty low-key for me this year. I was sick, went to bed at 10:30 only to be woken up by fireworks at midnight. Someone in the area must've really wanted to celebrate in style. Turns out, another household nearby had a similar idea and I basically got to watch a fireworks battle. It was pretty amusing and totally worth being woken up for.
My last two projects of 2007 were a lovely penguin and a cute little elephant. The penguin was part of Lion Brand's Holiday amigurumi set. His tummy patch didn't turn out quite like I expected it to, though, so I had to improvise a bit on that. Oh, and he was supposed to have a hat too, but it just looked really awkward when i put it on him. Overall, I'd have to say the penguin in the picture was a lot cuter than mine, but it's still a nice pattern. As for the elephant, I think he is absolutely adorable! His trunk came out a little long, but it adds to his cuteness. To make his cheeks rosy, I just patted a bit of blush on him.
The weather was GORGEOUS yesterday, so I went for a bike ride. My butt's really sore today, but I had so much fun playing with our new camera. It's an Olympus FE-280, nothing special, but it took decent pictures :)
Well, it's back to typing scholarship essays for me. Maybe I'll be able to fit in some crocheting later on. I'll have to do it in secret though b/c my dad totally disapproves.
My neopolitan blanket was made pretty quickly. Probably anywhere from 6 - 10 hours. I don't always have a lot of time to work on things, but I make sure I take all my spare moments and use them up crafting. :)
